Formative Research on Women Economic Empowerment, The Royal Norwegian Embassy Pakistan, 2008-09
Formative research was undertaken to produce qualitative assessment of Women Economic Empowerment Projects under the Norwegian Gender Grant 2007-08. The projects included Mera Maan -- Economic Livelihood Programme (LIP) and UNDPs Project Community Empowerment through Livestock Development and Credit (CELDAC).
Market Assessment and Estimation of Potential Demand for Credit by Women Entrepreneurs - First Women Bank Limited, 2008-09
The focus of this study was to formulate a strategy to effectively tap the demand for credit existing among women in Pakistan. It assessed the potential demand for credit existing among employed women in Pakistan including women entrepreneurs (employers and self-employed) as well as regular paid employees associated with various women-centric enterprises.
Mapping the Terrain: The Activities of Faith Based Organizations (FBOs) in Development - University of Birmingham, UK, 2008
A study initiated by the Religions and Development Research Programme of the University of Birmingham, UK focused on mapping the nature, scale and activities of faith based organizations in Pakistan, India, Nigeria and Tanzania.
Center on Budget and Policy Priorities: Project Implementing Budget Questionnaires in Pakistan for International Budget Partnership (IBP), 2008
The aim of the IBP is to make budget systems more transparent and accountable to the public. To measure the overall commitment of the 85 countries to transparency and accountability and to allow for comparisons among countries, IBP created the Open Budget Index (OBI) from the Open Budget Survey 2008
Study on the Elimination of Textile Quotas and Pakistan-EU Trade - European Union Delegation to Pakistan, 2007
This report extensively discusses the various aspects of the elimination of textile quotas with particular reference to Pakistan-EU trade. The findings were disseminated amongst the relevant government departments, trade and business associations, and academic institutions to initiate informed policy debate and create a proper understanding of the issues
Poverty Profile of Pakistan - International Development Centre of Japan (IDCJ), 2007
This study aimed to update the existing Poverty Profile Report of Pakistan by analyzing the poverty related data and information, and producing an appropriate strategy to fight poverty.
A study on Assessing the Potential for Pakistan-India Trade in Textiles - Pakistan-India CEO Business Forum, 2006-07
This study examines the extent to which the potential for trade between Pakistan and India, if the two economies open up to each other, can be realized by enhancing trade in textile-related products. The findings of the study would help the government and the business community in formulating a viable strategy for capitalizing the benefits of trade with India.
Human Development Profile of District Loralai - UNDP, 2004-05
Purpose of this study was to prepare a profile of human development for the district Loralai, Balochistan, besides assessing the implementation of the devolution plan in the district. The study included analyses of survey data and interviews with local government officials and elected representatives.
The Johns Hopkins Comparative Non-profit Sector Project - Aga Khan Foundation (Pakistan), 2001-04
The project was an international research initiative spearheaded by the Center for Civil Society Studies, Johns Hopkins University, USA. The objectives of the project were to document the size, scope, internal structure, finance and legal position of the non-profit sector in Pakistan; to identify the legal, cultural, historical, social and political factors that either encourage or retard the development of non-profit organizations; and to improve public awareness of this sector and provide a more reliable basis for designing policies toward it.
Support for the Implementation of the National Policy and Action Plan to Combat Child Labour - Asian Development Bank, 2002-03
The technical assistance provided by SPDC consisted of strengthening the capacity of the Child Labour Unit (CLU) located in the Ministry of Labour, Government of Pakistan. The activities specifically included advisory support in information technology e.g. web designing, advocacy and awareness programs, training and orienting staff from the CLU on core issues relevant to Pakistan besides assisting in preparation of chid labour statistics and analysis.
Third Party Validation Survey to Assess Delivery and Quality of School Level Services in Districts of Sindh - World Bank, 2003
The objective of the study was to assess the performance of the schools with respect to school operations, non-salary inputs, school management committees, views of community beneficiaries, and views of district managers. The study included a survey of about 600 functional schools in the province of Sindh.
Development Profile of Districts of Sindh - UNICEF, 2000-01
The objective of the study was to prepare development profile of selected districts of Sindh. In addition to analysing secondary data, the study also included a survey of 750 households in each selected district.
